2026-04-21 - To the user with the dataset DADOS_NDSR_INTERVENCAO:
Your analysis always blocks at the variable `Isomalt`, either due to problems with the variable data or because of a previously unkown technical problem (I suspect too many variables in the group analysis). Please check your data and retry the analysis either without the problematic variable or first perform a single analysis with this variable alone. Otherwise the MSM program will continue to become inaccessible, which should not be in your interest.
For questions, please contact the maintainer. Thank you for your cooperation.
Welcome to the MSM program site
With the MSM program you can calculate the usual dietary intake from 24h recall information and supporting data such as food frequency data.
The Multiple Source Method (MSM) is characterized by a two-part shrinkage technique applied to residuals of two regression models, one for the positive daily intake data and one for the event of consumption. The method is applicable to nutrient and food intake including episodically consumed foods. Variation in intake that is explained by socio-demographic variables selected in advance is not affected by the method. The additional use of a food propensity questionnaire is possible. The method is suitable to estimate individual usual intake in the case of many repeated measurements and a long time period. The method can handle different distributions of food and nutrient data and constructs proper population distributions.
A user guideguide link explains the usage of the MSM program and provides background information about the method

NOTE: 2025-12-16: Please use only ASCII characters in your filename. Other characters with accent, umlauts or greek characters will lead to an error upon upload. Thank you for your understanding.

NOTE: 2024-05-16: Please check your data files before uploading and remove any excessive empty rows (containing only separators or only zeros & separators) These can create memory problems, especially if they are very abundant (there are cases of more than a millon empty lines) which renders this service unavailable. Thank you for your cooperation.

Update: 2023-08-28 : For performance reasons we have implemented a short daily blackout period for restarting of the MSM program. Please be aware that on 10h00 to 10h05 CE(S)T, the MSM program will not be available. Make sure that you have finished your analyses and downloaded any results by then.

NOTE: 2020-10-15: To avoid memory shortages, we have introduced a file size limit of 10MB. If you have a larger dataset, please consider restructuring it by including only the variables absolutely necessary for your analysis. Using the smallest prossible data file will conserve the systems memory and allows other users to use this ressource as well. Thank you for your cooperation.
